SlabLine Coupler

A high power version of stripline using rods to avoid corona on sharp edges. Pure TEM mode in homogeneous dielectric, often air or polystyrene foam. One problem with a dielectric is getting rid of the heat dissapation from the rods. Still good for 10KW directional couplers.

Note:

A reference load is required for calculation of the Quarter wave coupler characteristics (defaults to 50 Ohms).

For your 3db coupler you will need large diameter bars and possible Kapton tape.

The rods / bars can be plumbing copper pipe so that a cooling liquid can be piped in the coupler.

Important:

You are not going to get a 3db coupler using an air dielectric, since there is very little close conatct between the bars.

However using very large diameters > 1m it is possible to get closer.

If 3db is the obsession try pouring an aluminia cast.
